Well, as I write this, Covid19 cases are on the rise faster than ever in the United States. Most of it is due to the economy reopening and people being resistant to wearing masks and staying distant from one another. I have gotten pretty used to wearing a mask by now - for sure when running errands and even today at church (outdoors). This week, the governor mandated that masks be worn across the state, but of course, the ultimate decision was up to the individual counties. Marion Co., of course, voted to make her mandate a recommendation instead. But I do feel like more people are taking mask-wearing more seriously this week.
On the homefront, we painted the basement and are currently deciding what to do with the floor, exactly. It can't come soon enough for Delaney. She already has big plans for organizing her Legos once we can move everything back in!
The girls have enjoyed painting rocks this summer, thanks to a birthday gift from Aunt Trissa. They convinced me to give it a try one evening - lots of fun!
We celebrated Fathers Day - a very low-key affair:
Caiden played with most of his school basketball team at an MAYB tournament in Wichita. It was fun to watch them play again, but I couldn't help but think about the virus while we were there. It was the most crowded place we had been since early March. And of course, later in the week, 3 cases were reported from teams that had been there. We didn't play any of those teams, but still, it was present. It has been 2 weeks now, so I think we are in the clear for now! Who knows - this might be the only basketball we see this year!
I canned 2 batches of green beans - a total of 14 quarts so far.
Sonic runs after dentist appointments! We began seeing a new dentist in Hillsboro since ours suddenly shut down without warning.
Chelan continues his baking endeavors on Sundays. This week's results were near perfection!
Summer is carrying on, and even though a lot of our normal activities have been cancelled, the farming cycle continues normally. We finished wheat harvest this week without a hitch-no breakdowns, no weather problems, no delays! Caiden ran the grain cart, Grandpa hauled the wheat away, Chelan manned the combine, and Grandma and I took turns hauling meals out to the fields. Trissa and her family came out a couple of times to take part in the harvest festivities, and Mace was able to fly his new drone over the fields. He took some pretty great pictures!

The girls continue to enjoy swimming and friendships - how lucky we are to have access to a pool this summer!
Delaney should have gone to camp today, but instead our church arranged for the kids to receive Camp-in-a-Box from the camp. She received her goodies last Saturday!Sonic runs after dentist appointments! We began seeing a new dentist in Hillsboro since ours suddenly shut down without warning.

And finally, we celebrated the 4th of July at home with a 10 minute show in the driveway with the grandparents.
We are still hoping we can get to South Dakota in a few weeks, but with increasing cases, we will see! Most of our fingers are crossed . . .
