Family Vacation to OKC

We took off for OKC last weekend with no real plan - except for having a hotel booked.  It was lovely!  We made ourselves quite at home in the hotel and realized we hadn't spent more than one night in a hotel together before - four nights in one place felt like a luxury.  We did a fair amount of relaxing, swimming, and sightseeing.  In fact, we explored several districts in the city during our stay.

Day 1:  Zoo, Bricktown, Oklahoma City Memorial

Day #2:  Myriad Botanical Gardens, Movie, Escape Room, Land Run Monument
I enjoyed my time in the "Crystal Bridge" - an indoor section of the gardens, while the kids played in the fountains outside.  There were so many beautiful rain forest plants, and I took my time since I was by myself!  :)

with a hint to help us, this was a favorite activity for
all of us!

Our hotel was close to the state capitol,
so we stopped by for some pictures
on our way back.  There was construction
so we weren't able to get very close.

Day #3:  Outlet Shopping and Whitewater Bay:

didn't work for her, but Cambry was convinced.

We ended our trip by ordering-in pizza:  a first for the kids!

Choosing Trust Over Fear

I have struggled with writing about the shooting in Hesston - in fact, I wasn't going to post anything about it.  However, for the sake of memories, I decided I should at least touch on it.  It does deserve a place. Surprise!

Well, I sure don't get surprised very often, but Saturday night was a huge surprise to me! I thought I was heading to Hesston for an AGCO Christmas Dinner with Chelan. He told me we needed to drop something off at Ben and Tina's house (my cousin), first. Okay, no big deal! While we were there, Ben said they were about ready to go out for dinner, did we want to come along? Surprisingly, Chelan thought about it and wanted to do it (clue #1 that something was up). I kept saying that we couldn't skip out on his dinner, but Chelan insisted that going to Wichita for dinner would be much more fun. I even said, "This seems like something you had planned!" However, I'm always up for dinner in Wichita, so I agreed, reluctantly!! We enjoyed a meal at Hangar 1 Steakhouse and I thought that was the end of it. Girl Named Tom

Bethel College, Beautiful Night, Free Concert - need I say more? The Administration Building has never looked better! Delaney and her friend Elaina got to meet them afterwards - that's Delaney in the shadows! :)
