Too Wet to Cut Wheat

What do you do when it's too wet to harvest wheat and baseball games keep getting cancelled?  According to Chelan and Caiden:
1.  Watch YouTube video about "How to Make Rope"
2.  Rig up a contraption to twist twine into rope
3.  Make a rope!

I can't even begin to fathom how their brains work - mine is definitely not wired the same way.  I couldn't possibly imagine watching a video and then actually carrying it out - all in one evening!

They were quite pleased with their first attempt.  The second and third tries have been even better!  I have a feeling there may be many more father/son challenges these two take on!

There are some gears mounted on that board, powered by a drill.  In this
picture, they were twisting it manually.

Choosing Trust Over Fear

I have struggled with writing about the shooting in Hesston - in fact, I wasn't going to post anything about it.  However, for the sake of memories, I decided I should at least touch on it.  It does deserve a place. NCAA Division 1 Volleyball Championships

Chelan and I took Delaney to Kansas City for the championship game of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament - a birthday gift given to her in August. What a cool experience! From posing with the trophy to testing her vertical (6th place for all girls who tried!), to watching the match between Texas A&M and Kentucky, to a real life reindeer in the arena, we had a fun day!

Girl Named Tom

Bethel College, Beautiful Night, Free Concert - need I say more? The Administration Building has never looked better! Delaney and her friend Elaina got to meet them afterwards - that's Delaney in the shadows! :)
