First of all, let me say that I have no idea why some of these words are highlighted!
Yesterday, I had the privilege of taking 5 eager 2nd graders to the MCC Center in N. Newton. We are lucky to have this resource center just 10 minutes down the highway! MCC stands for Mennonite Central Committee. It is an organization that works to bring peace, justice, equality, and needed resources to those who are affected by poverty, war, natural disasters, etc. It is such a fantastic organization, and they do way more than I listed here. I was glad that my Sunday School class got to participate in a project that will help others.
Their task? Put together school kits which will be sent to children in countries like Honduras, or sometimes even areas within the United States. Families are so grateful for these kits because the money they save not purchasing school supplies can be used for other essential things.
The kids were so happy to help and they quickly figured out how to pack each school kit: 4 notebooks, 1 ruler, 1 eraser, 1 box of colored pencils, and 4 pencils. There is a specific way each bag should be packed and they were super about doing correctly! I was so happy to see how willing they were to work. I have to admit that Sunday School lessons in church do not always have the outcome I would like. This little "field trip" was much more effective than any lesson could ever be, and I hope they learned a little bit about loving others through serving them!

Tina is also one of their Sunday School teachers and she works at the center. We dropped in to say hi! |
