SKY!

Last week was quite a week!  Being on a committee in charge of VBS is a lot of work, but after it's all said and done, I have to say it's worth it.  We had a fantastic week learning to TRUST GOD!  On Sunday, we had our children's program where the kids sang the songs from the week.  The music was awesome this year - a mix of new theme songs, worship songs, and old gospels and hymns like "I'll Fly Away" and "Christ Arose."

After the program, we always have a meal and activities outside on the church campus.  Cambry couldn't stop talking about the cotton candy (you know, like clouds), and Caiden had fun with the organized activities - especially the water balloon toss.  It was such a great day!

Now that swimming lessons, wheat harvest, and VBS are all over, it's time to begin the slow, relaxing portion of our summer!

We had about 75 kids during the week - there were probably
about 65 there on Sunday.  This song is "You, You, You"
That's why they are pointing.
Myra and Delaney spent the week in the nursery
together.  They were supposed to be
hugging each other, but unfortunately,
it looks like Delaney is strangling Myra!

This will be one of those great 8th grade graduation pictures someday!

How happy are they?

Delaney somehow snagged this bat from one of the
games and did not part with it all afternoon!  She
likes to jump - which is what she's doing in
this picture.
It was a good kite-flying day!

Surprise!

Well, I sure don't get surprised very often, but Saturday night was a huge surprise to me! I thought I was heading to Hesston for an AGCO Christmas Dinner with Chelan. He told me we needed to drop something off at Ben and Tina's house (my cousin), first. Okay, no big deal! While we were there, Ben said they were about ready to go out for dinner, did we want to come along? Surprisingly, Chelan thought about it and wanted to do it (clue #1 that something was up). I kept saying that we couldn't skip out on his dinner, but Chelan insisted that going to Wichita for dinner would be much more fun. I even said, "This seems like something you had planned!" However, I'm always up for dinner in Wichita, so I agreed, reluctantly!! We enjoyed a meal at Hangar 1 Steakhouse and I thought that was the end of it. But, on the way home, Chelan asked if we could go by the new arena since the inaugural concert was there that night -- Brad Paisley! I thought it would be f...

Spring Art

While Mrs. Schmidt was away on maternity leave during the spring, Mr. Novak (from Hesston) filled in for her. Since Cambry has her first 3 class periods in the art room, she got to know him very well and he mentioned several times how he appreciated Cambry's artistic style and way of thinking. He even let her paint a little bit on his own pieces! Cambry took several pieces to the WSL art festival in April. She came home with a first place finish in the graphic design category and an honorable mention in the computer design category. We are so thankful for the instruction she has received over the last 4 years in Goessel. Now, on to Hesston College with Professor Cross!

Fall Daze

The Fall Semester zoomed by as usual with lots of activities - mostly volleyball. However, there were some other events we enjoyed, too. Volleyball-wise, Delaney had a great first season! The team placed first at their home tournament, at the Olpe tournament, they were regional champions and sub-state runners-up (losing to Little River...again), and they finished 2nd in the league. Individually, Delaney made it onto the all-league first team and was a state stat leader (top 25) in serving! Our community continued to celebrate the 150th anniversary of our ancestors coming to the area. We toured the site of the first immigrant houses while Delaney helped to park cars with the youth group. Delaney was a care bear with her friends for Halloween. She was also in her first musical: The Little Mermaid. She played the roles of a princess and a maid. Overall, she enjoyed it, despite lots of practices! We thoroughly enjoyed the performance and I still marvel at what can be accomplished at a ...
