Thursday

Just some random thoughts from yesterday . . .

1.  Delaney had her 18 month appt. with Dr. Patron.  Is it strange that I look forward to these appointments??  I'm always curious to see how much she's grown, if she's on target, and I just like visiting with the doctor.  He seemed genuinely happy to see a happy, healthy girl yesterday saying, "Every now and then I need one of these!"  Delaney was her usual charming self -- repeating words, smiling, blowing kisses.  She got lots of pats and kisses on the head from him as well!  :)  It's a good thing to have a good pediatrician!

2.  Cheez-Its were on my grocery list yesterday, and wouldn't you know it, they're selling boxes of Scrabble, Jr. Cheez-its?  They were the same price as the regular ones, so I bought a box.  Cambry and I had fun at snacktime!  I know, I know, I fell for clever marketing!

3.  Delaney LOVES shoes.  Caiden just got a new pair the other day, and yesterday, she walked around in them everywhere!  It was HILARIOUS!  They are so big, but somehow, she manages to take big enough steps that she makes it across the house in them!

4.  Delaney has become very aware that we pray before meals and at bedtime.  She even likes to stop and remind us during a meal.  We fold our hands and say "Amen" whenever her cute little hands are folded and her head is bowed!

5.  I made the easiest supper ever!  I'm probably the last to discover Hellman's Parmesan Crusted Chicken, but I'm a fan!  All you do is slather chicken breasts with 1/2 c. mayo and 1/4 c. parm. cheese mixture, top with seasoned bread crumbs, and bake!  As my sister reads this, I can just hear hear her gagging, but I LOVE easy suppers!

Comments

  1. Love hearing what Delaney is up to...Ethan also loves to pray at meal times he reaches out to hold our hands and we'll sing in his own way with us as we sing "God is Great." So precious! :)

  2. Your sister says to use yogurt instead of mayo - imagine that. I'm sure the chicken tasted wonderful and the Delaney pictures are priceless.

Surprise!

Well, I sure don't get surprised very often, but Saturday night was a huge surprise to me! I thought I was heading to Hesston for an AGCO Christmas Dinner with Chelan. He told me we needed to drop something off at Ben and Tina's house (my cousin), first. Okay, no big deal! While we were there, Ben said they were about ready to go out for dinner, did we want to come along? Surprisingly, Chelan thought about it and wanted to do it (clue #1 that something was up). I kept saying that we couldn't skip out on his dinner, but Chelan insisted that going to Wichita for dinner would be much more fun. I even said, "This seems like something you had planned!" However, I'm always up for dinner in Wichita, so I agreed, reluctantly!! We enjoyed a meal at Hangar 1 Steakhouse and I thought that was the end of it. But, on the way home, Chelan asked if we could go by the new arena since the inaugural concert was there that night -- Brad Paisley! I thought it would be f...

Spring Art

While Mrs. Schmidt was away on maternity leave during the spring, Mr. Novak (from Hesston) filled in for her. Since Cambry has her first 3 class periods in the art room, she got to know him very well and he mentioned several times how he appreciated Cambry's artistic style and way of thinking. He even let her paint a little bit on his own pieces! Cambry took several pieces to the WSL art festival in April. She came home with a first place finish in the graphic design category and an honorable mention in the computer design category. We are so thankful for the instruction she has received over the last 4 years in Goessel. Now, on to Hesston College with Professor Cross!

Fall Daze

The Fall Semester zoomed by as usual with lots of activities - mostly volleyball. However, there were some other events we enjoyed, too. Volleyball-wise, Delaney had a great first season! The team placed first at their home tournament, at the Olpe tournament, they were regional champions and sub-state runners-up (losing to Little River...again), and they finished 2nd in the league. Individually, Delaney made it onto the all-league first team and was a state stat leader (top 25) in serving! Our community continued to celebrate the 150th anniversary of our ancestors coming to the area. We toured the site of the first immigrant houses while Delaney helped to park cars with the youth group. Delaney was a care bear with her friends for Halloween. She was also in her first musical: The Little Mermaid. She played the roles of a princess and a maid. Overall, she enjoyed it, despite lots of practices! We thoroughly enjoyed the performance and I still marvel at what can be accomplished at a ...
