Tea Party

I kept Cambry home from school today because she had the stomach flu yesterday.  By mid-morning it was evident that she could have gone to school!  I'm so glad she is feeling better, but there sure is a lot of extra talking and singing when she's home - not to mention the screaming that comes from Delaney when Cambry is around!

I was trying to think of some activities to pass the time, and then I suddenly remembered that Cambry had a cake mix for her Easy-Bake Oven that she had gotten for her birthday.  So, we decided to have a tea party!  She got all excited about baking her cake, dressing up like a princess, and setting the table.  The party lasted all of 5 minutes, but Cambry kept telling me how much fun she had!  I guess it doesn't take much to please a little girl!

Cambry poured Delaney and herself some "tea" (apple juice).  Surprisingly, Delaney was able to drink hers without spilling!

Cake is so good!  She would have eaten all the cake if I hadn't stopped her!

Comments

  1. 1. Cambry is just beautiful - love those cheekbones!
    2. Delaney's profile is identical to you at age 1 (last picture)
    3. Little D and I have been working on drinking by herself from little cups . . . it WAS our little secret!

Surprise!

Well, I sure don't get surprised very often, but Saturday night was a huge surprise to me! I thought I was heading to Hesston for an AGCO Christmas Dinner with Chelan. He told me we needed to drop something off at Ben and Tina's house (my cousin), first. Okay, no big deal! While we were there, Ben said they were about ready to go out for dinner, did we want to come along? Surprisingly, Chelan thought about it and wanted to do it (clue #1 that something was up). I kept saying that we couldn't skip out on his dinner, but Chelan insisted that going to Wichita for dinner would be much more fun. I even said, "This seems like something you had planned!" However, I'm always up for dinner in Wichita, so I agreed, reluctantly!! We enjoyed a meal at Hangar 1 Steakhouse and I thought that was the end of it. But, on the way home, Chelan asked if we could go by the new arena since the inaugural concert was there that night -- Brad Paisley! I thought it would be f...

Spring Art

While Mrs. Schmidt was away on maternity leave during the spring, Mr. Novak (from Hesston) filled in for her. Since Cambry has her first 3 class periods in the art room, she got to know him very well and he mentioned several times how he appreciated Cambry's artistic style and way of thinking. He even let her paint a little bit on his own pieces! Cambry took several pieces to the WSL art festival in April. She came home with a first place finish in the graphic design category and an honorable mention in the computer design category. We are so thankful for the instruction she has received over the last 4 years in Goessel. Now, on to Hesston College with Professor Cross!

Fall Daze

The Fall Semester zoomed by as usual with lots of activities - mostly volleyball. However, there were some other events we enjoyed, too. Volleyball-wise, Delaney had a great first season! The team placed first at their home tournament, at the Olpe tournament, they were regional champions and sub-state runners-up (losing to Little River...again), and they finished 2nd in the league. Individually, Delaney made it onto the all-league first team and was a state stat leader (top 25) in serving! Our community continued to celebrate the 150th anniversary of our ancestors coming to the area. We toured the site of the first immigrant houses while Delaney helped to park cars with the youth group. Delaney was a care bear with her friends for Halloween. She was also in her first musical: The Little Mermaid. She played the roles of a princess and a maid. Overall, she enjoyed it, despite lots of practices! We thoroughly enjoyed the performance and I still marvel at what can be accomplished at a ...
