Pre-Christmas Activites

Christmas Break is upon us and we have been enjoying lots of pre-Christmas activities -  watching Caiden play basketball, a girls' outing to see "The Nutcracker," playing in the snow, making peppernuts, and enjoying the girls' Christmas program at school.  The program was extra special this year because Cambry played in her 5th grade band and played a clarinet solo. After only 4 months of practicing, they all did a great job! Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and we will enjoy our church's Christmas Eve program and gathering at my parents' house.  Then on to Christmas Day when we will welcome our California family home for a little while!   It has been about 18 weeks since school began.  The days and weeks have been full and busy and difficult, but here we are with Christmas on our doorstep! There has been a lot to do to get ready, but now that the preparations have been made, I hope to fully enjoy my time at home and to reflect on the gift that Jesus truly is

Fall Happenings

I fear my posts are getting fewer and farther between!  I had a few pictures on my camera, so I thought I would update this evening.  On the roll?  Halloween, leaves, and 4-H Achievement Banquet! Our witch and Greek goddess Pumpkin Face - a new goddess? The witch wasn't particularly in the mood for pictures! Goessel Goal Getters at the banquet - this definitely isn't all of them! Checking out her pins - one for sewing, one for foods & nutrition, and her Bronze pin (2nd year pin).  I guess the record books were worth it!

Fall Sports Wrap-Up

Well, it seems full-time teaching has taken a toll on keeping up with my blog!  Last night, I had a chance to chat with almost all of my students' parents at p/t conferences.  I actually enjoyed it, and the time flew by!  Thankfully, today is a day off and I'm trying to catch up on things here at home. Last week, both Cambry and Caiden finished up volleyball and football.  Along with teaching, I took on coaching the 5th grade rec. volleyball team.  It wasn't a huge time commitment and I really enjoyed seeing how much they improved.  It still isn't Cambry's favorite thing, but I hope she continues in jr. high.  The girls were amazing!  They ended up 6-4, I think.  It will be fun to watch them in the coming years! Summer, Alece, Miranda, Jaicee, Liz, Alyson, Cambry, Delaney ("manager")  Last Thursday was Caiden's last football game.  They were so far ahead by halftime that Caiden got to play quarterback the whole 2nd half.  He even sco

Special Sunday

Last Sunday was a big day for Delaney - she received her Bible from our church!  It's been a tradition the last number of years for first graders to receive a Bible and a bag at the beginning of the school year.  So, she and her friend, Britton, had their turn last week!  It is always fun to see the excitement and wonder on their faces as they search through their Bibles for the first time!  We hope her enthusiasm grows as she continues her journey to know and to love Jesus! With their Sunday School teachers, which includes Grammy! We had to leave right after she received her Bible - she was not thrilled to be taking a picture!

New Year, New Activities!

We've heard our share of squeaks around here lately!  Cambry began playing the clarinet, and she is doing so well!  We don't even have to remind her to practice as she is pretty eager at this point.  And I even started hearing the beginnings of an actual song the other day.  Tonight, it was a joy to watch Caiden play football for the very first time.  His team scrimmaged at the school's annual "Fall Sports Preview."  They actually have enough to scrimmage 8 on 8 this year - for the first time in a long time.  And Caiden even took a few snaps at quarterback - and completed a pass!  He's not so sure he likes that role, but if he has to play quarterback in a game, he would probably be a second back-up for this year.  He really enjoys playing linebacker - and he got to do that some tonight too.  We are definitely looking forward to watching his games this year and we are so happy that he is enjoying it!
