Wow! We walked into the GES gym on Friday night, and I all I could say was, "Wow!" Miss McGee, the art teacher, obviously went to a LOT of work to get ready for the evening. I couldn't believe how organized she must have been all year to set something like this up. Each child had 2 pieces of artwork displayed. There were also three tables set up with art activities. She had a slideshow of her art classes going the whole time, there was a silent auction of collaborative class projects, student portfolios were available to pick up (most of their artwork from the year), and there were refreshments. So many of the teachers were also there to help out with various aspects of the evening, and the school cooks made the cookies - it was a team effort. And, the turnout was great! She can definitely be proud of her first ever GES Art Show! And thanks to the silent auction, I bet she raised almost $1000 for the art department.

Miss McGee with the 5th grade peacock for sale. She painted the peacock
and the 5th graders each painted a wooden oval piece to add to the tail.
It sold for over $100! |
